An Investment in Your Child's Future
We understand that choosing a summer camp is a significant decision for your family. At Field Sports Academy, we believe the cost of our camp is a direct investment in an experience that provides lifelong returns, far beyond the boundaries of a sports field. When you choose FSA, you're not just signing your child up for a few weeks of fun; you're investing in their character, their confidence, and their future.
Our Story: What Matters to Us
We didn’t just pop out of nowhere! Our journey in youth sports has been a long one, filled with great kids, supportive families, and a few key moments that shaped how we coach and why we believe so strongly in positive, encouraging experiences for young athletes.
These are a few of the moments that really stuck with us — the ones that remind us why we do what we do.
- The “Coach Z Effect”
About ten years ago, we were living in Montreal and spending every spare moment coaching kids’ rugby, soccer, and lacrosse (shoutout to the NDG Dragons, LaSalle Rapides, and Westmount Lynx Lacrosse!). That’s where we met “Coach Z,” the founder of Westmount Lynx Lacrosse — and everything changed.
Coach Z wasn’t just a passionate lacrosse player; he truly understood the importance of a fun, friendly, and competitive environment. He built a partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance, helping ensure that every Lynx coach was ready to give kids and families the best possible experience.
What really made Coach Z special was how he noticed the little things, he called it "catching people doing the right thing" — both in players and coaches. He’d say things like, “Hey, I noticed you’re getting really good at picking up the ball without shoveling — great job!” or “I saw how you helped your player overcome their fear of being in goal — that made a big difference.”
He always took time to connect with parents, too, helping them understand how valuable their support was in keeping the kids happy, the spirit of the game alive, and the whole experience positive for everyone. - The “Happy Parent” Moment
While coaching the NDG Dragons at a rugby jamboree, our team faced a tough matchup. The other team was bigger, faster, and had practiced a few skills beyond our age-grade curriculum. We were a little nervous, but our kids wanted to give it a go — so we did.
The result? We got completely outplayed! But instead of focusing on the score, Coach J gathered the kids afterward and talked about what went right — the great tackles, smart passes, brave runs, and all the effort they’d put in.
Soon the smiles came back, and the kids were off in search of the hot dog stand. That’s when one of the parents came over to say thanks — not for the win, but for helping the kids turn disappointment into pride. That moment reminded us that what really matters isn’t the scoreboard, but the lessons that stick. - The “Resilient Kids” Tournament
Our LaSalle U10 boys B team had a tough season — few wins, a few missing players — but they were headed to a big tournament. We only had four players available, but other teams offered to lend us a few extras so everyone could play.
We were a little worried they might fold under the pressure… but we couldn’t have been more wrong. They played their hearts out — every game, every minute — and gave everything they had.
They made it all the way to the finals and finished second overall, but what we remember most is the pride on their faces. They talked about that tournament for a year.
It was a powerful reminder that resilience, teamwork, and joy can make any challenge worthwhile.
These are the moments that shaped our philosophy — the belief that youth sports can build confidence, community, and lifelong memories.
We want every child (and every parent) who joins our camp to feel that same sense of pride, growth, and connection. That’s what really matters to us.
The FSA Difference: What's Included?
We have meticulously designed our camp to provide unparalleled value and a truly premium, hassle-free experience for parents and campers alike.
- Expert Coaching, Unmatched Attention: Our most significant investment is in our people. Our coach to player ratio is minimum 1:8 and as high as 1:6 in some cases. This means your child is not just a number in a crowd but a valued member of a small team, receiving personalized guidance and mentorship from a trained and dedicated coach every single day.
- Certified Excellence: Every single one of our coaches is certified by the Positive Coach Alliance. PCA is made up of trained professionals equipped with research-backed tools to teach sports in a way that builds character, encourages effort, and fosters a genuine love for the game.
- All-Inclusive Equipment: From day one, your child is fully equipped for success. The camp fee includes their very own FSA-branded t-shirt and baseball cap, plus a high-quality rugby ball, lacrosse stick, and soccer ball to keep! This eliminates hidden costs and encourages them to continue practicing the skills they learn long after the summer ends.
More Than a Game: Building "Better Athletes, Better People"
We are proud partners of the Positive Coach Alliance (PCA), and their mission is at the heart of everything we do. In a world of "win-at-all-costs" youth sports, we offer a transformative alternative. The skills your child learns at FSA are the critical building blocks for a healthy and successful next generation.
- Learn Essential Life Skills: We focus on developing confidence, teamwork, resilience, and empathy.
- Practice New Competencies: Our coaches are trained to build athletic skills in a positive, affirming environment that praises effort and learning.
- Develop a Belief in Their Best Selves: We are dedicated to changing the culture of youth sports so that every child has access to a positive experience that helps them grow.
Investing in Our Community
Your investment in your child's summer also has a powerful local impact. We are deeply committed to our journey through Truth and Reconciliation and are proud to partner with MEND Canada.
A portion of every camp fee goes directly to this Indigenous-led organization, which uses the power of sport to inspire the next generation of Indigenous youth. Your participation helps provide the resources needed to build life skills, increase high school completion rates, and create tomorrow's mentors and leaders within Indigenous communities. When you join the FSA family, you join a community that is actively making a difference.
